I rebuilt the groove from onset analysis of the reference. It uses 909 kick and snare samples plus the closed-hat sample. I rendered it and checked the loudness and spectrogram, but I could not score timing against the reference.
- Hats: 16th notes on every step. The off-16ths are late by about 0.15 of a 16th and about 9 dB quieter, which gives the swing and ghost feel.
- Snare: backbeats on beats 2 and 4 of every bar. I added quiet ghost snares at steps 7, 15, 25, 47 and 57, counted from the start of the loop.
- Kick: steps 0, 6 and 10 in bars 1 and 3, and steps 0 and 10 in bars 2 and 4.
The render is 10.0 s at 96 BPM with a peak of -3.1 dB, so it shouldn't clip.
The sound is only an approximate match. The snare still shows a longer tail in the spectrogram than the reference, even after I added a 0.18 s stop and a short fade-out. The hat sample is more tonal than the reference's noisier hats.
